Dr. Schweitzer has almost 20 years of experience covering the gamut of intellectual property issues. Dr. Schweitzer’s practice includes patent preparation and prosecution, licensing, confidentiality and joint development agreements, trademarks and litigation. Dr. Schweitzer also collaborates with an extensive network of foreign associates to provide patent protection around the world.
Dr. Schweitzer studied chemistry and earned his Masters degree and Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Cologne, Germany. He started his professional career in 1986 in the Patent Department of Hoechst AG where he specialized in the protection of intellectual property in the areas of inorganic chemistry, pharmaceuticals (including organic synthesis, steroid chemistry, molecular biology, and immunology), food additives, polymer chemistry, and film and fiber manufacturing. In 1991 he was accepted by the EPI as a European Patent Attorney and joined the patent department of Hoechst Celanese Corporation where he became proficient in licensing and litigation. He has an outstanding command of the English language and is also fluent in French.
Dr. Schweitzer is a member of the German Patent Attorney Bar and a Member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI)
